Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026
TacitusCam is built to be private. This policy describes what data the app
handles and what happens to it.
What we collect
- No personal information. Accounts are anonymous — no
email address, name, or phone number is required or collected.
- Video and audio recorded by a phone you set up as a
camera is uploaded over TLS to our cloud storage (hosted in the EU) so you
can view it from your paired devices.
- Detection events (timestamps and bounding-box
coordinates of motion/person detections) are stored to power alerts and the
timeline.
- Device data: a push-notification token (to deliver
alerts), device name, and battery level of camera devices.
What we do NOT do
- No ads, no analytics SDKs, no trackers.
- We never sell or share your data with third parties.
- No human ever views your footage; it is accessible only through your
account's paired devices.
Retention and deletion
Recordings are automatically and permanently deleted after your plan's
retention window (24 hours on Free, 7 days on Premium). Deleting the app from
your camera device stops all recording immediately. You can remove all data by
resetting the app on your devices; orphaned recordings expire and are deleted
by the retention window in all cases.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see
your payment details.
Camera and microphone access
The app requests camera and microphone permission only on devices you
explicitly set up as cameras, for the sole purpose of recording the video you
asked it to record.
